“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Constable Jordan and Constable Ryan, who sacrificed their lives protecting the citizens of Edmonton just over a year ago,Transportation and Economic Corridors Minister Devin Dreeshen said in a Monday news release. “The naming of these bridges in the city in which they served will honour the memory of these two brave police officers.”

The Alberta government says memorial signs with the officers’ names will be posted at the ends of each bridge.

Ryan was born in Edmonton and Jordan was from Digby, Nova Scotia.

“I am deeply grateful to the Government of Alberta for their support during our time of such profound loss,” said Edmonton police Chief, Dale McFee, in a news release. “This is a poignant tribute to Travis and Brett’s service, reminding Edmontonians of the sacrifice they made in their dedication to keeping our city safe. They will never be forgotten; every day, we honour their legacy.”
