The fire that destroyed 12 units of the Garden Townhomes complex in Yellowknife last fall is now being investigated as as a “potential criminal act” by the RCMP, according to RCMP Cpl. Matt Halstead.

Halstead said RCMP took over investigation into the fire after receiving evidence from the N.W.T. fire marshall’s investigation that indicated possible criminality.

Halstead did not say when RCMP had taken over the case but said they have been actively investigating since the beginning of February.

The investigation into the fire is ongoing.
