Navigator (4) – Jordan’s Principle

Summary

Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory is seeking applications from qualified individuals to apply for the position of Jordan’s Principle Navigator. Working under the direction of the Jordan’s Principle Supervisor, the Jordan’s Principle Navigators will act as a focal point for the children and families that we serve and will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of proficient supportive services by the Jordan’s Principle Team. The responsibilities within this position are flexible and may be adjusted according to community needs and priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that culturally appropriate and effective services are provided to members of Wikwemikong;
  • Provide families with resources to navigate full range of health and social programs to address needs;
  • Assessing family needs, facilitating early intervention, developing integrated care plans;
  • Collaborate with relevant service providers in completing Jordan’s Principle applications
  • Collaborate with external services in securing supporting documentation for applications;
  • Collaborate with families and assist in navigating the Jordan’s Principle application process;
  • Undertake data collection on cases and identify unmet service gaps and develop options;
  • Attend conferences, meetings to maintain knowledge on developments and program policies;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Director of Operations;

Requirements

  • Postsecondary education in a field related to Human services, education or social work is preferred;
  • However, other combinations of skills, education and relevant experience may be considered;
  • Minimum three years of related experience;
  • Knowledge of Jordan’s Principle Legislation and any related appropriate legislation;
  • Proficiency with computers and relevant software;
  • High level of sound and independent judgment, reasoning, and discretion
  • Able to manage multiple projects/tasks demonstrating strong time management skills;
  • Strong communication skills including written, verbal and presentation;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, with strong time management skills;
  • Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation; and,
  • Proficient interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution, collaboration, facilitation, negotiation, and team building.
  • The ability to speak Anishnabemowin is a definite asset or willingness for continued learning;
