The winter sitting of the Nunavut Legislative Assembly begins Thursday, with MLAs set to debate the next territorial budget in this session.

Government house leader David Joanasie said that along with the budget bill, there will be three other money bills tabled this session, dealing with supplementary appropriations.

“So, budgets to either add on or carry forward money that the government hasn’t spent from the last fiscal year,” Joanasie said.

“That’s to ensure that we continue on those important projects — housing being one of the top ones.”

The 2024-25 budget will be tabled Monday by Finance Minister Lorne Kusugak.

The winter sitting is scheduled to continue until March 7.
