Manager – Wiikwemkoong Recreational Facility
We are seeking a motivated strategic thinking individual to fill the position of managing WUT’s Recreation Facility. The Manager will be responsible for overall operations of the facility and will be required to develop and execute short-term and long-term plans.
DUTIES:
- Maintain the operations and maintenance of WUT’s recreational facility;
- Schedule and oversee the making of and maintenance of ice;
- Coordinate use of facility with user groups;
- Establish staffing schedules and requirements;
- Handle rental and other contracts with vendors and users;
- Supervise subordinates, oversee maintenance projects and equipment;
- Maintain a viable year-round operation;
- Promote community involvement within the arena through recreational & leisure pursuits for community members;
- Develop and monitor annual maintenance schedule, monthly work plan and budget;
- Maintain records and prepare reports as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-Secondary education in a business-related field;
- Education in recreational leadership is also an asset;
- Experience in facility maintenance is an asset;
- Able to exhibit courtesy, tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public and presentable in appearance;
- Must be compute literate and aware of relevant software;
- Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle;
- Knowledge of Anishnawbemowin and culture and committed to continual learning and development;
- Commit to acquiring/maintaining appropriate certifications, i.e., arena refrigeration certificate.
