The beacons remain lit as the Snowfall and Extreme Cold Warnings remain in effect in Edmonton and throughout the province. To paraphrase Jim Carrey, do not go out there! Along with the heavy fog and 50 km/h windswept snow, there’s also a high of -18 with a wind chill that will make it feel like -29 — that means a serious risk of frost bite. While the snowfall is supposed to be calming by this evening, tomorrow will still bring 15 km/h winds that will turn the high of -18 into a wind chill of -28 in the morning and -21 in the afternoon.
Stay indoors unless you absolutely have to leave the house or office!

Snowfall Warning
Snowfall and extreme weather warnings were updated Monday for Edmonton and throughout Alberta.
We will see around 4 cm of snowfall today, in addition to the 20 cm of snow that fell overnight in Edmonton.
Wind gusts up to 60 km/h, particularly east of Edmonton towards the Saskatchewan border, are causing periods of localized blowing and drifting snow this morning.
Conditions will improve through the day today as the snow and gusty winds taper off.
Cold Streets
City has extended its extreme weather response until Friday March 1 at 8 a.m. to help keep vulnerable Edmontonians safe during the cold. If cold weather conditions persist, it may be further extended.
A friendly reminder that the city has activated its extreme weather response to help vulnerable Edmontonians stay safe during the cold weather expected over the coming days.
