A 59-year-old Edmonton piano teacher has been charged with sexual assault, say police, who believe there may be multiple victims.

Officers received a report March 14 that a 10-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted on a number of occasions, said a Wednesday police news release.

The assaults reportedly took place during piano lessons at the child’s home, while the mother was in another room.

Police arrested a man Tuesday. They say he has been teaching piano for seven years, both to children and adults. He often conducted lessons in the homes of students.

Cassius Alleyne is charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.

Alleyne was released on conditions that include not to have contact with anyone under the age of 16 years of age. He can’t attend any public swimming areas, daycares, playgrounds, public libraries or youth shelters.
