Community Emergency Management Coordinator
Under direction of the Director of Operations and Designated Supervisor, the Community Emergency Management Coordinator (CEMC) will be responsible for the following:
Duties:
- Prepare, update and maintain the Master Emergency Response Plan
- Chair, organize, and facilitate the EM Planning Group annual exercises (seminars, workshops, tabletops, drills, functional exercises and full scale).
- Supervise, mentor, direct, and schedule staff that are part of the EM Planning Group in their defined Roles and Responsibilities.
- Review Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment with the EM Planning Group annually.
- Assist communities with Memorandums of Understanding as part of their emergency response, where required.
- Advise departments on their specific Emergency Plans, and co-ordinate interdepartmental activities.
- Arrange Emergency Management training
- Responsible for tracking CEMC expenses and expenditures.
- Develop and implement an Emergency Management Public Awareness Campaign and community activities.
- Schedule Preparedness engagement with households, youth and elders.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in a related field (Community Planning, Public Health Administration, Public Administration, or Educational Administration).
- Experience in writing emergency plans and standard operating procedures
- Ability to relate well with staff, outside agencies, and community members.
- Experience in word processing software, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Possess well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality while working with minimal supervision.
- Possess effective interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Able to maintain composure while handling high stress situations.
- Must have knowledge of office, communication, and emergency equipment.
- Must have current geographic knowledge of all Band owned properties and holdings.
