A Dalmatian dog ran off from his home and, when he came back, his owner couldn’t believe what his pet had brought with him.

In a post shared on TikTok in March, under the username @catdaddypongo, the owner of the rescue Dalmatian, named Pongo, says that, after running off one day, he came back with a shopping bag, but she did not expect to see what was inside.

“My dog ran off and came home with a TJ Maxx bag with two kittens,” the owner says, as the clip shows the Dalmatian smelling the small kittens, as if reassuring them in animal language that he’s going to take care of them. A caption shared along with the viral post reads: “Like will they take them back with no receipt? Now what lol [laugh out loud].”

Despite always been portrayed as mortal enemies, dogs and cats can be great siblings. A 2020 study carried out by Italian scientists, published in the journal PLOS ONE, proved that the two can easily cohabit without much conflict.

The study found that over 64 percent of the cats and dogs living together also played together; 58 percent chased each other; and 41 percent fought. Almost two-thirds of the pets sometimes playfully “ambushed” the other.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 2.3 million views and more than 357,000 likes on the platform.

One user, Carley, commented: “You must name them tj and max.” And Mama_Teacher_Artist posted: “Apparently the cat distribution system has outsourced delivery!”

CourtneyLynn wrote: “Aww he saved them, those are his babies now congratulations what a good pup.” And Erin Barylski added: “Please don’t return them! They might not fit right now, but you’ll grow into them.”

Another user, RhippyChaCha, commented: “So that would be the cat distribution system and it just hit me with a black kitten that looks similar to yours and he turned out to be utterly and totally epic. Ur dogs got the gift. Accept the [present].”

Jamiel0603 posted: “When you go shopping, she doesn’t judge you on what you bought so no, judging on what she bought.”
