A cat’s reaction to being banned from coming inside a restaurant has quickly gone viral on TikTok, with the clip reaching over 7.8 million views.

Guests of the restaurant are warned about an outdoor cat named Barney who visits almost daily. He’ll sit outside the glass door, peering in and waiting for someone to let him inside. Because of health and safety reasons, he is denied entrance, but that doesn’t stop him from trying.

An April 2 TikTok video posted by user @ryeniix shows how Barney will boldly stand outside, waiting for someone, anyone, to let him in. He’ll glare inside and also, if you make eye contact, into your soul, as if you hurt his feelings because you refused him. It doesn’t matter if he pulls on your heartstrings.

There is a sign asking guests to refrain from opening the door: “Dear guests, if you see Barney the cat at the door please do not let him in. Thank you.”

Newsweek reached out to @ryeniix via TikTok for more information.

Barney must’ve been told what the sign said because he is fuming in the video. He is sick of coming over time and time again without getting let in. And he wasn’t the only one upset with the decision.

With over 1.4 million likes and 2,121 comments that flooded the TikTok post, users were hysterical over Barney’s reaction. Many came to his defense too, saying they would have let the cat inside without hesitation.

“He looked so sweet in the picture but bro was furious in real life,” commented one viewer.

Another said: “I would 100% let him in,” while another wrote: “Lucky for them, I can’t read. Pssss psss psss.”

But before you side with Barney’s convincing performance, which makes people believe he’s being ignored, the creator made a follow-up video about why is not allowed inside.

Turns out Barney has a loving family of his own but still enjoys visiting the restaurant. He must be coming for the food. And with that look on his face, he’s ever so hopeful that he’ll get a plate for himself sooner or later.

Luckily, the restaurant doesn’t ignore him. Barney gets lots of love, pets and attention from his family and his visits. And, on occasion, he sneaks inside. (Just don’t tell the health inspectors!)
