Homicide detectives are investigating the suspicious death of a man that occurred in southeast Edmonton Tuesday evening.
At approximately 10:55 p.m., city police officers responded to reports of gunshots nearby 48 Street and 21 Avenue, police said in a Wednesday news release. Upon arrival, police located a 22-year-old man with critical injuries.
EMS paramedics transported the man to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Later Tuesday night at approximately 11:30 p.m., police responded to a vehicle fire near 199 Street and 21 Avenue. On arrival, officers located an SUV engulfed in flames. Investigators believe the SUV is connected to the suspicious death.
The suspicious nature of the incident has prompted homicide investigators to take over the investigation.
