The snowfall may have stopped for now, but don’t get too comfortable — it’s simply the calm before the weekend’s multi-day snowfall. I suppose that’s not entirely true, as there will be some periods of light snow on Thursday, but it’s likely just a small precursor of what’s to come.

As for today’s forecast, it’ll be a chilly morning with 15 km/h winds bringing a wind chill of -27, warming up to -14 in the afternoon, with a high of -8 C. Winds will get more intense tomorrow, climbing to 40 km/h, but a light snowfall in the afternoon will keep the high at -5 C with a wind chill of -17 in the afternoon.
Frostbite is a serious concern with these kinds of temperatures and wind chills. If you have to go out on the roads, please make sure wear warm clothes and winter boots, and always keep a spare set of gloves in the car! You never know when you might have a slip on the road and have to keep yourself warm while you wait for a tow.
Parking ban in effect
The City of Edmonton implemented a Phase 1 parking ban on Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. for vehicles parked along major roadways, including arterial roads, collector roads and bus routes. However, people can still park on residential streets.
Parking is allowed on roads as soon as they have been cleared, so long as parking is allowed there normally. Residents should refer to the roadways snow clearing map for current clearing status of roadways.

Vehicles parked on banned roadways may be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense. If a vehicle has been towed, the owner should contact 311 for details.
