New PM Carney Appoints Hajdu In Indigenous Services

by admin

Native Press – March 17, 2025 – Patty Hajdu, the minister of Indigenous Services, has maintained her position in Prime Minister Mark Carney’s cabinet despite a dozen positions being cut.

Hajdu, who was first elected as MP of Thunder Bay—Superior North in 2015, believes reconciliation is a key opportunity to strengthen domestic economies.

She believes that Canada needs to be self-sufficient, strong economically, diversify its trade partners, and protect Canadians.

One way to achieve this is to strengthen Canada’s relationships with Indigenous people, work alongside them to close the country’s productivity gap, and seize more local growth opportunities.

Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN), a political-territorial organization representing 49 First Nations across Treaties 9 and 5, congratulated Carney on his new role and welcomed the return of Hajdu as minister of Indigenous Services.
